Our Network of Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) plays a vital role in delivering accessible, preventive, and primary healthcare services to underserved and hard-to-reach communities. Through regular village visits, the MMUs bridge critical gaps in healthcare access, focusing on early detection, awareness, and timely referral. The initiative adopts a comprehensive, community-centric approach that integrates medical services with public health education and sanitation drives, ensuring holistic well-being.
Building on this approach, the MMUs deliver on-ground healthcare through regular medical consultations, basic diagnostics, essential medicines, and follow-up care, ensuring continuity of treatment for common and chronic conditions in areas with limited fixed facilities. Community awareness sessions strengthen understanding of maternal and child health, nutrition, hygiene, mental health, and disease prevention, encouraging timely care-seeking and informed decisions.
Periodic health camps address specific needs such as anemia screening, eye care, adolescent and women's health, and geriatric care, enabling early diagnosis and referrals. In alignment with the Swachh Bharat Mission, sanitation and cleanliness initiatives are integrated into service delivery, promoting safe water practices, personal hygiene, waste management, and healthier living environments.
Dal Pari is a unique boat-based Mobile Medical Unit operating on Dal Lake, Srinagar, designed to reach communities living on houseboats and floating settlements who face significant barriers to accessing regular healthcare facilities. Recognising the geographic and mobility challenges of lake-based communities, BWF introduced Dal Pari to deliver healthcare services directly to households on water.
