Our Project Objectives

After living in the valley for years, BWF has learnt that the development of the border areas is not possible without the participation of the local people. Thus, empowering the people is one of our main objectives.

1

Development

To facilitate an integrated learning environment for the holistic development of children by providing educational opportunities and structured, activity-based learning.

2

Recreation

To provide a space for children to unwind, have fun and explore their creative streak through various recreational activities.

3

Culture

To make Kashmiri culture available to children through various day-to-day as well as special activities and events, to let them explore the option of getting back to their roots and learning things that they would have probably done had they been in Kashmir.

Our Impact

BWF believes that safety, education, innocent and carefree childhood are the basic rights of all children. The girl-orphans are rehabilitated, recognizing children's rights passed by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) namely - Rights to Survival, Rights to Protection, Rights to Development, Rights to Participation.

In short, the aim is to work for the physical and psychological recovery and social reintegration of these children. At present BWF is running four homes in the districts of Kupwara, Budgam, Anantnag and Jammu with 133 girls between the age group of 02 to 17 years. These girls are pursuing their education in local, government & private schools.

"BWF works in education, health care, emergency medicine, and women's empowerment. The organization runs four homes for girls who have lost their parents in the armed conflict in Kashmir Valley, during Kargil War and 2005 Kashmir earthquake. BWF supports girls' education, vocational training and mentoring for a purposeful life."
